New LightScribe Printable Media from Microboards
Microboards is well-known in the disc publishing industry for their line of disc duplicators, printers, and loaders. What you may not know is that they also offer their own brand of blank media in both CD and DVD formats. The latest offering brings LightScribe print technology to their already great line of recordable media.
Yes, it’s true – Microboards is now producing LightScribe CD and DVD discs. With LightScribe, users can record their data, flip the disc over, and etch their artwork directly on the disc. There are no ink cartridges to buy and no separate machine required. A computer or tower duplicator with LightScribe drives is all you need!
So how does it work? The gold-colored top surface of the disc is actually a special coating which is applied during the manufacturing process. This material reacts to the light directed at it from the laser inside the drive, which causes it to change colors from gold to dark grey. This is what causes the artwork to appear on the disc.
LightScribe artwork is comparable to silkscreen in terms of its resolution. It looks best with text and vector artwork, though photos and full-disc prints are also possible. Because of the nature of the discs, LightScribe printing is monochromatic only. However, the shiny gold-colored surface of the discs provides plenty of contrast to catch the attention of your audience.
Microboards’ LightScribe CD-R discs offer more than just great print quality. They have a maximum capacity of 700 MB of storage space, which is great for backing up data and other important files. These discs can record up to 79:59 of audio at speeds of up to 52X. For audio or data, these Microboards CDs will get the job done.
Microboards blank DVD discs are available in LightScribe DVD+R & LightScribe DVD-R formats depending on your needs. They both offer 4.7GB of space which is great for making system backups and other data storage. When recording video, these discs will hold 2 hours of DVD-quality footage. They also boast a maximum write speed of 16X, which means that an entire disc of content can be burned in just minutes!
All of the Microboards LightScribe discs are available now in the LightScribe Media Store by CDROM2GO. These discs are ideal for use with a LightScribe CD/DVD duplicator or other disc burning equipment from Microboards. To shop for these and other blank discs, visit us online at today!
