Imation Announces New Defender CD/DVD Media
There are several good reasons why people choose blank CD and DVD discs for data storage. They are portable, inexpensive, and they hold a lot of information. But what if you need to keep that information secure? Most people wouldn’t choose an optical disc as their first choice for secure data storage, but Imation is aiming to change that with their new line of Defender media.
Imation’s Defender discs allow you to encrypt and burn data using 256-bit AES encryption for maximum security. They are also certified to FIPS 140-2 Level 1 validation to ensure that your data is recorded without errors. It’s safe to say that these are the most secure blank CD and DVD discs you can buy.
How does it work? Defender discs contain everything you need to encrypt your information on the disc, so there is no need to install or use third-party encryption software on your computer. The on-screen instructions are very easy to follow and it takes just a few clicks to set everything up.
If you’re like me, you’ve already got more passwords than you can keep track of. Luckily, Defender CD and DVD discs have a built-in password recovery tool to assist those of us with less than perfect memories. This is a great feature because it keeps your important content safe from prying eyes while allowing authorized users to access it easily.
Defender discs by Imation are a great choice for any industry where data security is a concern. Some examples include financial and medical records, defense contractors, engineering and construction firms, and company email and server backups. They are compatible with a wide variety of PC-based platforms including Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and 7. They are also compatible with Windows Server 2000, 2003, and 2008 editions.
The discs are currently available in both DVD and CD recordable formats, with encrypted Blu-ray discs expected out soon. All of the discs feature a white printable surface for use with inkjet disc printers and publishers. This allows you to print your artwork directly on the disc’s surface when using a compatible disc printer.
The Defender CD and DVD discs are part of a complete line of data storage products from Imation that also includes USB flash drives and external hard drives, all of which feature strong data encryption.
