Stand Out with Colored LightScribe CD-R Media

Colored LightScribe CD-R DiscsSince we began carrying LightScribe-compatible duplicators and media earlier this year, a number of customers have contacted us with questions about LightScribe technology. One of the most frequently asked questions is about the discs themselves. Are there other colors available besides gold? You bet there are!

The LightScribe process begins with specially coated CD-R and DVD-R discs. When these discs are placed face-down in a compatible drive, the coating is etched away by a laser as the disc spins. The result is your picture or text displayed on the surface of the disc.

While most Lightscribe discs have a gold colored top surface, that is not the only color to choose from. LightScribe printable CD-R discs are also available with red, orange, yellow, green, and blue print surfaces. These colored discs are compatible with all drives bearing the official LightScribe logo.

Different colored discs can dramatically change the appearance of your project. While gold provides a high-contrast background, other colors such as red and orange can be used to grab the attention of the recipient. This can help your discs stand out from the crowd of ordinary LightScribe discs, especially at a high-impact event like a trade show or seminar.

You can pick up a 25-pack of colored LightScribe CDs for about $8 bucks. That really isn’t bad at all considering you get 5 different colors in each box. This is a simple way to jazz up your LightScribe-printed discs without spending a lot of extra time or money.

For creating LightScribe discs quickly and efficiently, we recommend a tower such as the Accutower LS duplicator. These machines are available with up to 11 recording drives for maximum efficiency in disc production.

The Accutower is also a high-speed CD and DVD disc duplicator. This means that a single machine can be used for both recording and labeling the discs. The whole system is inkless and requires no additional equipment (other than a computer for creating LightScribe artwork files).
